Η ευρύτερη περιοχή Βουνοκάλαθος βρίσκεται κοντά στο φράγμα Γαδουρά και είναι μία από τις ατελείωτες εκτάσεις που αποτεφρώθηκαν στη μεγάλη πυρκαγιά του 2008. Από τότε μέχρι σήμερα η αναβλάστηση της περιοχής επικεντρώνεται μόνο σε συγκεκριμένες εστίες κι όλη η υπόλοιπη επιφάνεια των χιλιάδων στρεμμάτων παραμένει χωρίς δέντρα. Η γύμνια των δεκάδων χιλιάδων στρεμμάτων, έχει άμεση επίπτωση στο κλίμα ολόκληρου του νησιού της Ρόδου και θεωρείται μία από τις αιτίες της επικράτησης τόσο υψηλών θερμοκρασιών στη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού.
Στη δράση που ως «#Γιατηφύση κοινσεπ» σχεδιάσαμε προβλέπεται τη 10ετη φροντίδα της περιοχής. Μελέτη για τους λόγους που δεν αφήνουν τα δέντρα να αναπτυχθούν, φροντίδα των μικρών κοιτίδων εναπομείναντος δάσους ώστε να προστατευτούν από τυχόν μελλοντική πυρκαγιά, συνεργασία με τα τμήματα δασολογίας – δασοπονίας των ελληνικών πανεπιστημίων για τις πρακτικές που θα πρέπει να υιοθετηθούν στην περιοχή, ασφαλώς την επικαιροποίηση της παλιάς μελέτης αναδάσωσης και εφαρμογή της σύμφωνα με τους κανόνες που ορίζει η Νομοθεσία περί Δασών.
Ανά εβδομάδα, ίσως και δύο φορές την εβδομάδα, θα έχετε πληροφόρηση για τα όσα παρατηρούνται στην περιοχή. Έτσι, όλοι μαζί θα γίνουμε συνεργάτες στη μεγάλη αυτή δράση.
Και κάτι ακόμα: Τα βουνά της περιοχής κρύβουν ένα μυστικό και το οποίο μας αποκαλύφθηκε εντελώς τυχαία. Εμείς θα διατηρήσουμε αυτό το μυστικό καλά κρυμμένο και θα το αποκαλύψουμε στο τέλος της 10ετίας, όταν η δράση μας θα έχει ολοκληρωθεί και θα είναι ασφαλές να ειπωθεί. Για το λόγο αυτό, την έκταση όπου θα υλοποιούμε τη δράση μας θα ονομάζουμε: «Οι λόφοι του μυστικού» ή «Hills of secret» #hillsofsecret
Σχετικά με τη δράση:
Η όλη δράση υλοποιείται από την κοινωνική επιχείρηση «Για τη φύση» στο πρόγραμμα «forestambassador», τελεί υπό την εποπτεία της Διεύθυνσης Δασών Δωδεκανήσου, υποστηρίζεται από την Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου και το Δήμο Ροδίων και οι πόροι όπως και το εργατικό προσωπικό για όλες τις δουλειές που πρέπει να γίνουν καλύπτονται από τις μεγάλες ξενοδοχειακές μονάδες και τα τουριστικά πρακτορεία της Ρόδου.

The wider area of “Vounokalathos” is located near the Gadoura dam and is one of the endless areas that were burned at the great fire of 2008. Since then the natural regeneration of the area focuses only on specific outbreaks and the rest of the thousands of acres remain without trees. The nudity of tens of thousands of acres, has a direct impact on the climate of the entire island of Rhodes and is considered one of the reasons for the prevalence of such high temperatures during the summer.
In the action that we planned as “Gia ti fisi” (Common Nature) it foresees the 10-year care of the area. We have began a study that includes several topics, such as the reasons that trees are unable to grow, care of the small cradles of the remaining forest to protect them from any future fire, cooperation with the forestry departments of Greek universities for the practices that should be adopted in the area, of course the update of the old reforestation study and its implementation in accordance with the rules set by the Forest Legislation.
Every week, maybe twice a week, you will get information about what is observed in the area. Thus, together we will become partners in this great action.
And one more thing: The mountains of the area they were hiding a secret which was revealed to us completely by accident. We will keep this secret well hidden and will reveal it at the end of the 10 years, when our action will be completed and it will be safe to say. As such the area we will implement our action will head fore be referred to as: “The Hills of Secret” #hillsofsecret
About the action:
The whole action is implemented by the social cooperate enterprise “Gia ti fisi” (Common Nature) in the “forest Ambassador” program, is under the supervision of the Dodecanese Forest Directorate, is supported by the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Rhodes and the resources as well as the working staff for all jobs to be covered are covered by the large hotel units and travel agencies of Rhodes.
