Τα στελέχη και το προσωπικό των ξενοδοχείων Sun Beach & Sun Beach II, του ομίλου Harmony Resorts (της οικογένειας Κάτρη), υποδεχθήκαμε ως κοινωνική επιχείρηση – οργάνωση «Για τη φύση», στο χώρο δράσης μας, στην περιοχή Καλαθόβουνος, κοντά στο φράγμα Γαδουρά νήσου Ρόδου, εκεί όπου μαζί συζητήσαμε για τον κύκλο της ζωής στο δάσος, τους λόγους που εμποδίζουν την αναβλάστηση δέντρων στη συγκεκριμένη περιοχή και γιατί είναι σημαντική η ανθρώπινη παρέμβαση ώστε να επιτευχθεί η εκκίνηση αναδάσωσης της όλης καμένης έκτασης.
Οι εργαζόμενοι συνοδευόμενοι από τον κ. Γιώργο Τσέλιο, γενικό διευθυντή των δύο ξενοδοχείων, περιηγήθηκαν στην περιοχή απ’ όπου ξεκίνησε η μεγάλη πυρκαγιά του έτους 2008, φύτευσαν σειρά δέντρων αναδάσωσης, καθώς και συμβολικά φύτευσαν τρία ελαιόδεντρα.
Τα ξενοδοχεία Sun Beach & Sun Beach II, καθώς και συνολικά ο όμιλος Harmony Resorts (Sun Beach Resort Complex, Elysium Resort & Spa, Rodos Palladium Leisure & Wellness) συμμετέχουν στο πρόγραμμα Forest Ambassador της κοινωνικής επιχείρησης – οργάνωση «Για τη φύση», έχοντας υιοθετήσει τη φροντίδα καμένης δασικής έκτασης συνολικής επιφάνειας 150 στρεμμάτων. Με τη στήριξή τους επιτυγχάνεται η προστασία των αυτοφυών δέντρων (από τις οπλές των ζώων), ο πλήρης καθαρισμός της περιοχής από σκουπίδια και παράγοντες ικανούς να προκαλέσουν πυρκαγιά στις συνθήκες των υψηλών καλοκαιρινών θερμοκρασιών, καθώς και η φύτευση δέντρων αναδάσωσης.

The executives and staff of the Sun Beach & Sun Beach II hotels, of the Harmony Resorts group (of the Katris family), welcomed us as a social enterprise – organization “Common nature”, at our place of action, in the Kalathovounos area, near the dam of Gadoura island Rhodes, where together we discussed the cycle of life in the forest, the reasons that prevent the regrowth of trees in this area and why human intervention is important in order to achieve the start of reforestation of the entire burnt area.
The employees accompanied by Mr. Giorgos Tselios, general manager of the two hotels, toured the area where the big fire of 2008 started, planted a series of reforestation trees, as well as symbolically planted three olive trees.
The Sun Beach & Sun Beach II hotels, as well as the Harmony Resorts group as a whole (Sun Beach Resort Complex, Elysium Resort & Spa, Rodos Palladium Leisure & Wellness) participate in the Forest Ambassador program of the social enterprise – “Common nature” organization, having adopt the care of burnt forest area with a total area of 150 acres. With their support, the protection of native trees (from the hooves of animals), the complete cleaning of the area from garbage and factors capable of causing fire in the conditions of high summer temperatures, as well as the planting of reforestation trees is achieved.
